"Spy School Goes South" (Faisal)
(WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS)
Introduction:
Hello, everyone, and welcome to the last blog post of the year! Wow, this has been a challenging year for us, but we're almost there! This post is going to be about (*drumroll*) another Spy School series book review (I know, so unexpected of me)! This book is titled Spy School Goes South, which is perfect to read during this time of year since it is summer-themed. This book is the sixth out of a total of eight spy books. There is actually a ninth one coming up soon, and I believe it is called Spy School At Sea. This book is full of suspense, action, and adventure.
Summary:
Benjamin Ripely was activated on Operation Tiger Shark, attempting to thwart SPYDER once and for all. One of the CIA's prisoners, Murray Hill, offered them to tell Ben their secret headquarters' location (implied by the title...oop) in return for his freedom. He suspected something suspicious about this offer but accepted it anyhow since this would be the closest his team could get to SPYDER's elites. It turned out, Ben's instincts were true. His mission is to survive SPYDER's attack, identify the exact place of their HQ, then report them to the CIA to bring back up. Ben and his team had to face rogue agents, trained killers, and furious beasts.
What I Liked:
1. The setting's theme was perfect for this time of the year. As I mentioned before, this book is summer-themed, and it made me even more exhilarated towards this upcoming summer. This year has been very long for many of us, so reading this made me feel hopeful during the end of this school year.
2. The book has unexpected plot twists. This aspect is present in all books in this series. This makes the book more mysterious and adventurous. This book's plot, in fact, is unique compared to the previous books, which I enjoyed.
3. The plot tightened up the loose ends from previous books. In previous books (especially the last one), there were some aspects of the plot that were not addressed completely, making them open for interpretation. However, this book has tightened those loose ends up. Although, it created other cliffhangers, minors ones if you will.
As to what I disliked about this book, I'm not sure (I couldn't tell because I was speed-reading it😅). Before I end, I would like to rank the books I have read so far in this series. The book that I enjoyed most is Evil Spy School (#3 in the series). I liked it the most since it describes in the perspective of SPYDER. The next best book was Spy School Secret Service (#5), which is followed by Spy Camp (#2), Spy School (#1), Spy School Goes South (#6), then Spy Ski School (#4).
That's it, everyone! Have fun reading during summer break! Feel free to check out the rest of the series by yourself. Take care!

It sounds like, from just your blog posts (which I have read multiple of), that this series goes a little bit off the walls. How old is the main character anyway? It would be crazy for an adult to deal with all that, let alone a child.
ReplyDeleteI remember posting a comment on this series before but I still have to try this book out. You did a good job organizing the information in a way that is easy to understand. I might have to try this book out. Nice post.
ReplyDeleteFaisal I like how you've stuck with this series for your entire blog and it's always nice to see another review from you. The fact that there are about to be 9(!!!) Spy School books is crazy to me. Seeing a series go on for that long is kind of baffling. I wonder if aspects of it ever got stale for you?
ReplyDeleteI remember reading almost all of your posts when they came out, just because of how interesting they were to me. You always gave summative descriptions of the books and nice opinionated statements as well. Nice post!
